Empowering every girl to
dream, learn, and lead

Girl Child

In many parts of India, the birth of a girl child is still not celebrated, and in the worst cases, not even accepted. Discrimination against girls begins before birth, with female foeticide still a grim reality in some regions. Those who survive often face lives marked by neglect, lack of education, poor healthcare, and systemic inequality. The gap in population and literacy rates between girls and boys reflects the deep-rooted biases that continue to plague our society.

At Surman Sansthan, we have witnessed countless heartbreaking cases that expose the harsh realities faced by young girls. Many are abandoned at railway stations, temples, and on the streets, left at the mercy of the world. These vulnerable girls are often victims of heinous crimes, including sexual assault, trafficking, and abuse.

Our organization, through Angadbaari, has taken in several such survivors minor girls who were brutally assaulted, injured, and left with deep physical and emotional wounds. We provided them with critical medical care, multiple surgeries, therapy, and, most importantly, love and support. Today, these brave girls are on the path to recovery. They are not only healthy and educated but are also building stable, empowered lives.

The fight for the dignity, safety, and future of the girl child is far from over, but with compassion and collective action, we can change the narrative. Join us in ensuring that every girl gets the chance she deserves to live, learn, and thrive.
