“"Hope lives here, dreams begin here - this is Surman."
Surman Sansthan-
Surman is more than just an organization; it is a beacon of hope, a promise of a better future for abandoned and underprivileged children. Known fondly as Surman Home, it offers not just shelter but a family to those who have none. For many years, Surman has been tirelessly working to provide essential support—food, healthcare, education, and, above all, love to destitute children and women in society.
Through unwavering commitment and compassion, Surman has transformed into a nurturing home for hundreds of orphans, giving them a second chance at life. Here, every child is embraced with warmth and treated with dignity. All religious festivals are celebrated together, fostering a deep sense of unity and belonging. Recognized across India, Surman Home stands as a well-known and respected institution, honored with awards that reflect its heartfelt dedication and relentless efforts to uplift the lives of the needy and deprived.
Registered under the Rajasthan Co-operative Act, 1958 (Section 28), Surman Sansthan
officially came into existence on January 31, 1998, with Registration No. 552/97-98.
This
organization was born from the long-cherished dream and heartfelt ideology of its
founder,
Mrs. Manan Chaturvedi, whose vision took structural shape through years of dedication
and
compassion..
Save the Children - Join Hands with Us
You can help change a child’s life with a simple act of kindness. Childhood is meant to
be a
time of joy, safety, and cherished memories but for thousands of children in India, it
is
marked by hardship and deprivation. Many go to bed hungry, without even two proper meals
a day, and lack access to even the most basic amenities.
Your contribution can bring light into their lives. Support poor and needy children.
Together,
we can give them the childhood they deserve and the future they dream of.
Your One Step Can Transform a Child’s Life
Across the streets of
India, countless
childhoods are lost to poverty, abandonment, and
despair. In the quiet corners of their young hearts, many children can barely dream of a
future filled with hope. At Surman Sansthan, we are dedicated to turning those fragile
dreams into reality.
We believe the power to bring about lasting change lies within each of us. Join our
movement for child welfare and be part of a meaningful journey toward a brighter
tomorrow.
Through our dedicated programs - Palna, Koshish, Phulwari, Tapasya, and Jeevan Life we
aim to restore the innocence and promise of childhood.
Surman Sansthan is not just a shelter. It’s a nurturing home where orphaned and
underprivileged children are raised with love, dignity, and care. From education,
healthcare,
and medical assistance to extracurricular activities that awaken creativity and
confidence,
every child is given the opportunity to flourish and thrive. Together, we can give them
the
future they deserve. Every child has the right to Survival, Development, Protection, and
Participation rights that can be upheld with our collective support. We are deeply
grateful to
everyone who has stood by us in this mission so far, and we invite you to walk this path
with
us. Whether as a volunteer, supporter, or sponsor, you can become a part of the Surman
Family and help shape a new world for these children. The world of children needs more
love and care from all of us.
Sambal
Project ‘Sambal’ is a heartfelt initiative by Surman Sansthan, created specifically for
the adult
members of our family, those above the age of 18. Launched 2-3 years ago, Sambal
continues to run successfully, driven by our unwavering commitment to helping young
adults
transition into independent, dignified lives.
As per both government guidelines and our internal policy, children over 18 are free to
leave
the care of the Sansthan. However, many of these young adults are exceptionally talented
and brilliant in academics, creativity, and innovation but lack the financial means to
pursue
higher education or career opportunities. That’s where Sambal steps in.
To support their aspirations, Surman Sansthan began involving these young adults in the
creation of homemade chocolates, paper bags, woolen clothes, homemade dolls, dresses,
cotton bags, magazines, and more products lovingly crafted under their active
participation.
This initiative not only promotes self-reliance but also ensures that our children never
feel
like a burden on the Surman family. Through this project, they not only become
self-sufficient
but also gain the strength and confidence to support their younger siblings and fellow
children in the Sansthan. Moreover, Sambal extends its support to young adults outside
of
Surman those who are not a part of our home but come from underprivileged families
unable
to fund their education. We strive to empower every deserving youth who needs a helping
hand.
All the products made under this initiative are sold under the name ‘Klleemm’, and 100%
of
the funds generated are reinvested into their further education and development. Sambal
is
not just a project—it’s a promise to stand beside our children as they step into
adulthood,
giving them the tools to build a brighter, independent future.
Founder

MANAN CHATURVEDI is the visionary founder and driving force behind Surman A committed social activist and child rights advocate, she has tirelessly worked to raise awareness about the injustices and abuse faced by children around the world. Her dedication also earned her the position of Ex-Chairperson of the Rajasthan State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, where she worked on a broader platform to protect and uphold the rights of children.
She embodies the spirit of pure, unconditional love and sacrifice. In a world where society often turns away from children in crisis, she chose to step forward. Without hesitation, she opened her heart and home to over 110 children each one rejected by society but embraced by her with compassion and care. Her journey began not with a grand plan, but with a single act of kindness. For years, Manan would regularly distribute food, clothes, and stationery to children in slum areas. One fateful day, she came across a little girl named Gauri, who was severely injured and bleeding. Manan rushed her to a hospital and stayed by her side for three days. When others suggested she take the child home, she didn’t think twice. That one decision became the turning point. Within a month, she took in eight more children and from there, the numbers kept growing. Where they came from no longer mattered. What mattered was that they had found safety, love, and a family. This sequence of life-changing moments led to the formal establishment of Surman Sansthan. Today, Surman Sansthan stands as a symbol of hope and second chances. Over the years, the organization has successfully rehabilitated 370 children back into their families, while 110 children currently live and thrive at the Surman Home.
As Manan Chaturvedi puts it: “My greatest joy is expressing one cohesive thought within a body of work that can be shown in its entirety.” And indeed, her life’s work is a testament to that single, powerful thought every child deserves love, dignity, and a chance at life.
Projects-
Palna- Restoring Innocence. Rebuilding Lives.
Surman Palna is a safe haven for the most vulnerable abandoned and destitute children,
especially infants up to 6 years of age. Within this nurturing home, children of all
ages live
together as one family. Under the loving care of our founder, Manan Chaturvedi, who
became a mother to these little ones, Palna offers more than shelter it offers the
warmth,
security, and affection that every child deserves during the most delicate years of
life.
The origins of many of these children are heartbreaking. Left behind in public places
roadsides, toilets, and dustbins, these babies were cast away due to reasons deeply
rooted
in social stigma and hardship: poverty, disability, being a girl child, or simply being
unwanted.
We sought to understand these reasons to reach the root of the problem and advocate for
change. One such revelation was the plight of single mothers battling poverty, which led
to
the birth of another initiative -Koshish.
Through Palna, we aim to offer these abandoned children not just survival, but a chance
at a
fruitful and dignified life. A life filled with opportunities, warmth, and the belief
that they were
never at fault in this cruel act of society.
Jeevan- Reviving Lives.
Jeevan was born from the cries of parents desperately seeking help to save their
children’s
lives. With this initiative, we offer temporary adoption and medical support for
children
suffering from critical health issues especially when their families are unable to
afford
treatment. Our goal is simple yet profound: to give these children their lives back.
Through
Jeevan, we’ve supported children battling malnutrition, anemia, septicemia, and many
other
life-threatening conditions. One such case involved a child found in a public toilet,
suffering
from severe anemia with only 2.7 hemoglobin. We immediately admitted him to J.K. Lon
Hospital, Jaipur, and provided complete care until his health was restored. Every child
deserves the right to health and a fighting chance. Jeevan is our promise to uphold that
right
to give these children the strength and opportunity to live.
Tapasya- Illuminating Futures.
Tapasya is our heartfelt initiative to support the educational needs of underprivileged
children
children who have never held a pencil, who were denied the joy of learning simply
because
life was too harsh. Many of them came to us as 11-12-year-olds without even basic
literacy
skills.
At Surman, we designed a smart, accelerated syllabus, recruited dedicated teachers, and
taught these children the building blocks of education right at our home. Within 1–2
years,
many of them were ready to join formal schooling, and some were even directly admitted
to
Class 10. The joy of seeing these once-forgotten children pursue their passions,
degrees,
and careers is the driving force behind Tapasya. This project is not just about literacy
it’s
about hope, transformation, and empowerment. Every child educated is a life saved from
the
shackles of ignorance and poverty.
THE START OF SURMAN
The establishment of Surman got triggered at three different places to Manan
Chaturvedi.
As a schoolgirl, Manan once discovered that a classmate was about to drop out because
she couldn’t pay her fees. Deeply moved, she rallied her classmates to donate their
pocket
money, collecting the funds in the girl's lunchbox. She then walked to the principal’s
office
and submitted the fees herself. It was her first taste of activism fueled by empathy,
action,
and the belief that no one should be left behind. Years later, in her own home, Manan
noticed a bird nesting above a switchboard. One day, the bird tragically died in a
ceiling fan
accident, leaving behind helpless chicks. Manan cared for them, feeding them, sheltering
them, and ensuring their survival. Even in these fragile, feathered lives, she saw the
sacredness of all beings who are left unprotected. As a young woman with dreams of
becoming a fashion designer, Manan was on her way to Delhi when she saw a starving
7-year-old girl scavenging near a garbage pile. That haunting image changed her forever.
“Who am I designing clothes for,” she thought, “when so many children in my country
don’t
even have food or clothing?” She turned back and began distributing clothes and food to
children in slums. One day, she came across a girl named Gauri, bleeding from a severe
head injury. Manan took her to a hospital, stayed by her side for three days, and
finally
brought her home. That same month, eight more children came to her. Soon, the count grew
and with it, a new life mission was born. Surman Sansthan emerged from this act of love.
In its early days, there was no Child Welfare Committee to turn to. The children kept
arriving.
Resources were scarce. But Manan refused to give up. She opened her heart and home to
any child in need, no questions asked. As the Surman family grew, so did its mission.
Dream Home –
ANANDLOAK-
Anandloak is the future home of Surman Sansthan a six-story shelter being constructed at
the Anand Lok JDA Scheme along the Jaipur–Sikar Road, spread across 2616 sq. meters.
