Poverty

Poverty remains a critical challenge in India, with approximately 53.5 million people living in extreme poverty accounting for nearly 4% of the country’s population, according to a report by Brookings. This harsh reality deprives many children of even the most basic standards of living.

At Surman Sansthan, we have witnessed the devastating impact of poverty firsthand. A few years ago, we were called to assist nine siblings who were locked in a single room, abandoned by their impoverished parents. This heartbreaking case highlighted the deep scars poverty leaves on lives. We embraced these nine children, each just about a year apart in age and today, we are proud to say that all of them attend schools and colleges, building a hopeful future.

It is poverty, not the poor, that must be eradicated. Our organization is committed to this mission by taking every possible step to support those in need. We invite you to join us in this effort. Together, we can make a meaningful difference.
